Four disciplines, one energy

Get the whole group moving

Each discipline brings together body, music and history. It adapts to every audience, from nursery pupils to senior leadership teams. All are practised together, and all end on stage.

Collective energy

Batucada

One percussion band, one heartbeat.

Born in Rio de Janeiro where African, Portuguese and Indigenous cultures meet, Batucada turns every participant into a ritmista. Surdo, repinique, caixa, tamborim, chocalho, agogô, cuíca: everyone finds their place in the polyrhythm, led by the puxador.

  • Motor coordination, precise movement and a sense of tempo
  • Mutual listening and team cohesion within each section
  • A window onto Brazil, samba and carnival traditions

Play, history & togetherness

Capoeira

You play with a partner, never against an opponent.

An Afro-Brazilian martial art born from the resistance of enslaved Africans in Brazil, long banned and later recognised thanks to Mestre Bimba and Mestre Pastinha, capoeira comes alive in the roda: a circle driven by the berimbau, the pandeiro and singing. Through ginga, dodges and acrobatics, pupils discover a discipline where cooperation matters more than competition.

  • Balance, flexibility, strength and better breathing
  • Mutual respect, helping one another, no rankings
  • Brazilian history, music and language, with songs in Portuguese

Rhythm & body expression

Maculelê

The stick-fighting dance where sticks become drums.

Performed in a circle to the sound of the atabaque and agogô, Maculelê has dancers strike two sticks together in time with the songs, carrying founding stories of courage and memory. Pupils work on synchronisation, memorising sequences and body expression, using light PVC sticks with rounded ends for completely safe practice.

  • Psychomotor skills: hands, feet and music in sync
  • Focus, memory and a measure of guided improvisation
  • Self-confidence and trust in others, loyalty and responsibility

For everyone, no equipment

Body percussion

The body as an instrument. No equipment, everyone plays.

Chest, thighs, hands, fingers, feet and voice: every part of the body becomes a sound. Rooted in flamenco palmas, gumboot dancing and hambone, and close to the Orff approach, body percussion starts from minute one, in the classroom or the playground. It builds pulse, memory and attention.

  • Attention, memorising sequences and anticipation
  • Laterality, left–right coordination and body awareness
  • Listening, cooperation and the joy of creating together

Team building:
one team, one rhythm.

Ayoub Chatar designs, organises and runs team-building experiences built on Afro-Brazilian arts. No musical experience needed: within a few hours your people become an orchestra, and everyone feels first-hand what listening, coordination and trust really mean.

  • Instruments and equipment provided
  • At your offices, a hotel or your seminar venue, indoors or outdoors
  • From a 90-minute icebreaker to a full day
  • Open to all ages and fitness levels

Four formats, mix and match to suit your goals

01

Batucada Team Drum

From the first beat to a team concert.

Everyone gets an instrument. Section by section, then all together, the group builds a complete piece with breaks and dynamics, conducted in turn by volunteer bandleaders.

  • Cohesion
  • Leadership
  • Listening
02

Maculelê Experience

The energy of a circle, the precision of a shared move.

Sticks, songs and steps in a circle: participants learn to sync up, anticipate each other's moves and build trust, with safe equipment throughout.

  • Trust
  • Synchronisation
  • Energy
03

Body percussion

No equipment, full engagement.

Perfect for a meeting room: hands, feet and voices create a shared rhythm in minutes. Ideal as an icebreaker, an energiser or a seminar closer.

  • Icebreaker
  • Focus
  • Well-being
04

Capoeira taster

Play with each other, not against each other.

An introduction suited to all levels: ginga, dodges and a sung roda, to work on non-verbal communication, respect for your partner and pushing your limits.

  • Communication
  • Respect
  • Challenge

Why it works

  • Everyone starts at the same level. Job titles fade for the length of a rhythm.
  • The result depends on everyone. If one section drops out, the whole band hears it.
  • Success is felt live. The final concert becomes a shared memory.
